Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 7, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Playcut (operated by Blox Labs Inc.) uses cookies and similar technologies on playcut.ai and app.playcut.ai. It supplements our Privacy Policy (which covers all personal data, not just data stored client-side) and our Terms of Service.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help sites remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and measure how the site is used. Cookies can be set either by the website you're visiting (first-party) or by another service the site loads, such as a payment processor or analytics tool (third-party). Some cookies are session cookies that disappear when you close your browser; others are persistent cookies that remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. Beyond cookies, modern web technologies use similar storage mechanisms — local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, and service workers — that this policy treats identically where they perform the same role.
2. Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary
Required for the site to function. This category covers authentication tokens that keep you signed in to the Playcut studio, session identifiers that bind a single tab's state to your account, CSRF tokens that prevent cross-site request forgery on form submissions, and the small operational cookies our infrastructure providers require for routing, load balancing, and security challenges. These cookies cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality, and their lifespan ranges from a single session to 30 days.
Functional
Remember your preferences across sessions. This includes the workspace you last opened, your selected theme (light or dark), your default brand kit, your preferred output aspect ratio, and the model-routing defaults you've configured. Functional cookies are persistent and typically expire after 365 days of inactivity. Disabling functional cookies will not break the product but will require you to re-set preferences each visit.
Analytics
Help us understand which features get used and where the site needs improvement. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregates traffic by URL without tracking individual users across sessions, and Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymized session replays that we use to find UX bugs. Clarity may set cookies; you can opt out via Clarity's browser-level opt-out or by enabling Do Not Track. Neither provider sells the data they collect, and neither builds advertising profiles from it. The Google Analytics 4 property on the marketing site is configured with IP anonymization and a 14-month data retention window.
Marketing
Limited use. We may use cookies from advertising platforms (Twitter Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads, Meta Ads) when you arrive from one of our campaigns or when we run remarketing audiences for product launches. These cookies let us measure ad effectiveness and exclude already-converted users from re-targeting. You can opt out via your browser controls or the platform-level opt-out pages: Google Ad Settings, LinkedIn ad preferences, Twitter ads personalization settings, and Meta Ad Preferences. We do not run marketing cookies in jurisdictions where consent has not been given via the cookie banner.
3. Third-Party Cookies
The third-party services Playcut loads as part of the product set their own cookies to function. We do not control what those services store, but we choose providers whose cookie practices are documented and limited to operational use. The list below is current as of the date at the top of this policy.
- Stripe — payment processing. Sets fraud-detection cookies on payment pages. Stripe cookie policy.
- Clerk — authentication and session management. Sets HTTP-only session cookies. Clerk privacy policy.
- Google Cloud — asset hosting and CDN delivery. May set operational cookies for load balancing.
- Cloudflare — DNS, security, and edge caching. Sets security cookies for bot detection and DDoS protection.
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymized session replay for UX research. Clarity cookie list.
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregate site usage analytics with IP anonymization enabled.
4. Managing Cookies
Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings panel. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may break the Service — you may be unable to sign in, submit forms, or complete purchases. Disabling functional cookies will leave the product working but require you to re-set preferences each visit. Disabling analytics and marketing cookies has no effect on functionality and simply opts you out of those measurement signals. Browser-level "Do Not Track" signals are honored: when we detect a DNT request, we suppress analytics and marketing cookies for that session.
For granular per-cookie control, we recommend using your browser's built-in
per-site cookie management. In Chrome, this is at chrome://settings/cookies;
in Firefox, at about:preferences#privacy; in Safari, under Preferences >
Privacy. To clear cookies set by a specific page, most browsers expose a "clear site
data" command from the lock icon in the address bar.
5. Region-Specific Notes
For users visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we display a cookie consent banner that captures your preferences before loading any non-strictly-necessary cookies. You can update those preferences at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer. For California residents, the California Consumer Privacy Act and CPRA right to opt out of "sale or sharing" of personal information applies — you can exercise that right via the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer. For Brazilian residents under the LGPD, equivalent consent and opt-out controls apply.
6. Changes
We'll update this policy as our cookie usage changes — new providers added, old providers removed, or material shifts in what data is collected. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. We don't email users about cookie policy changes, but the change history is auditable in the public Playcut documentation repository.
7. Contact
Email contact@playcut.ai with cookie-related questions, or privacy@playcut.ai for formal data-protection inquiries (right to access, right to erasure, regulator complaints). For the broader picture of how we handle personal data — not just data stored in cookies — see our Privacy Policy. For the contract that governs your use of Playcut overall, see our Terms of Service.
